Once regarded as a big climbing talent, Alex Cano suddenly disappeared into anonymity. Next year he will be back in Europe as he has signed a contract with Team Colombia.
A few years ago Alex Cano was considered one of the most promising riders in Colombia but he suddenly disappeared from the scene. At 31 years of age, the Colombian returns to the professional level at the Colombia team. Via Twitter, the Colombian announced that he has reached an agreement with Claudio Corti's team.
Cano has been riding a lot in Italy, having done two years as an amateur in the country. He has a stage win of the BabyGiro on his palmares and won the Giro della Valle d'Aosta in 2007. That year he was also second in the Vuelta a Colombia. Last season he won one of the most prestigious stage races in his home country, the Clásico RCN.
