The first meeting of the team Wanty-Groupe Gobert for the upcoming season took place this weekend in Charleroi. It was the ideal occasion to welcome the new riders.
"We start with even more enthusiasm to 2017. The 2016 season has been indeed our best season so far in terms of results. We hope that this first meeting is also the first step towards a successful season," team manager Jean-François Bourlart said.
This first meeting was not a training camp. Medical tests and meetings with various staff and technical partners took place. As a teambuilding activity the riders enjoyed their first "indoor skydiving". "In order to fly immediately", sport director Hilaire Van der Schueren joked.
The team has said goodbye to leaders like Enrico Gasparotto, Marco Marcato and Roy Jans.
The major signings are Yoann Offredo, Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, Pieter Vanspeybrouck, Xandro Meurisse and Guillaume Levarlet. Andrea Pasqualon is also reported to join the team.
