Pierrick Fedrigo (Bretagne) confirmed that he is back to his best after a few disappointing seasons when he finished third in the GP de Plumelec and extended his overall lead in the Coupe de France series.
"Third is fine but the team came here to win," he told Directvelo. "I think I lacked a bit of freshness. I come from a 5-day training camp in the Alps and after we had done recon of the Tour de France stages in Bretagne so I had used a bit of energt.
"When you are first, second or third in the Coupe de France, it becomes a goal. I will try to pick up a few points in the Boucles de l'Aulne tomorrow. After that, I will focus on other goals this season, including the Tour de France.
"The day went pretty well, but I was still a little bit in search of my feelings because we arrived here after 15 days without racing.
"Nearly the whole peloton was back after a break from competition. Everyone was waiting for the final laps to express themselves. We saw Alexis Vuillermoz was calm and he managed to win the race.
"The victory in the Coupe de France team ranking is one of the objectives at Bretagne. We are hungry for victories and podiums. We will also try to go for the individual classification.
For tomorrow, I hope for an aggressive race because it has served us well this season. For my part, I will try to recover the maximum because I have been riding my bike hard for a few days now."
