Like in the Tour de Romandie (where they were seventh), Alexandre Geniez and his FDJ teammates did a very good team time trial in the first stage of the Giro d'Italia, finishing 8th at 26 seconds.
Geniez who is the GC rider of the team, was pleased with the outcome.
"The Giro started well for us," he said. "It is not a surprise since we have worked a lot to improve in the time trial. We have also been working on the team time trial. Throughout the stage, we stayed focused and it paid off. This is a good start to the Giro. Later we'll see what happens."
