The trio Diego Ulissi-Maximilano Richeze-Jan Polanc made a great comeback after the Giro d'Italia in the opening time trial of the Tour de Slovenie. The course was a mix of long straights and of a series of bends.
UIissi finished 3rd, stopping the clock in 10'24", 2" more than winner Artem Ovechkin. Richeze covered the course in 10'34" for14th which was same time as Polanc who was 15th.
"Ulissi's performance was very good, but it's also important to note that the whole group of LAMPRE-MERIDA dod good performances at their best," sports director Mario Scirea said. "I will mention that all of our riders covered the course at an average speed of more than 48 km/h.
"The only regret is the fact that Ulissi did not do two bends in the final part of the course perfectly after he had been impressive in the straight secion which charazterized the early kilometers."
