Maxime Méderel won't be in the peloton in 2016. After spending two years at Europcar, the French climber has decided to retire because he has been unable to find a team for next season.
Mederel made the announcement in an interview tih VeloPro, making it clear that he had had no positive reponse to his requests.
"Today the answer for the future is clear: my sporting career has ended," he said. "I have only received negative feedback and do not want to wait until the end of the year, hoping to start in January. I announce my retirement from the sport. I was hoping to stay with [Europcar manager Jean-Rene Bernaudeau]. However, I understand him because he had a hard time finding a sponsor and maybe not has the budget he had hoped. Furthermore, the team will be built around Coquard next year and for the climbers the spots are already occupied by Jeandesboz and Sicard who are two of my good friends."
