If Tom Dumoulin had been in charge, the Tour de France had had a different route than the one which was presented today in Paris. "It is not my ideal Tour, he tells NOS.
"I wanted more time trialling. And that is a bit disappointing. On the other hand, the Tour not super difficult when it comes to climbing.”
36 time trial kilometers make it a difficult Tour for the specialists.
"I think it's a very open Tour where a lot can happen. There are many open stages and only a few uphill finishes.
"Whether I can get the yellow jersey in Düsseldorf? It's not sure yet if I'm going to ride the Tour. I will only make my choice when all courses are known."
The Giro will be presented next week while the Vuelta course will be known in January.
But if he does to Tour, Dumoulin he is unsure of his form on the first day.
"If I will do the Tour and go for the GC, it is very difficult to take yellow. If I focus on the GC, my short time trialling will suffer."
He considers another Giro-Tour double possible.
"I will do one of them for the GC. I am still undecided. The Tour has not convinced me."
