Next year Tom Dumoulin will go for the GC for the first time since the 2015 Vuelta again. However, the Dutchman still refuses to reveal which one of the three races will be his target. "I already have an idea about that," he tells NOS , "but I have not discussed it with the team. Therefore I cannot tell you anything. "
In the Vuelta Dumoulin was close to the victory, but he stressed that it wil not be easy to repeat that performance. "Everything should just go well. I think it's going to be very hard to finish on the podium in a grand tour whichever I choose. But I will at least do everything possible to get close. I know how not to focus on a specific result. I'm also certainly not going to say anything on TV," laughs Dumoulin.
On Friday, the Giant-Alpecin rider was named Dutch rider of the year.
