Alex Dowsett of Movistar is believed to be targeting an attempt at the World Hour Record on Friday the 27th of February at the Lee Valley Velodrome as part of the Revolution Series weekend there.
Dowsett has been riding the Full Gas Winter League at the Lee Valley Velodrome in London this winter to prepare himself for his attempt.
The 26-year-old’s Movistar team are reportedly paying for the Essex-born rider to privately hire the velodrome for at least 12, one-hour sessions, at a cost of around £500 a time.
Doesett must surpasss IAM’s Austrian Matthias Brandle’s record of 51.852km, set in October, if he wants the record. If he did so, he would become the first Brit since Chris Boardman in 2000 to hold the record.
James Pope, MD of Revolution organiser FACE, said: “We hope to make an announcement on our plans for next year’s Revolution meetings before Christmas.”
