According to French media, Bernard Sainz, the so-called “Dr. Mabuse”, is still working with professional riders. A coordinated investigation by French newspaper Le Monde and TV programme Cash Investigation (France 2) reveals that he continues to prescribe banned substances. The documentary will be broadcast this Tuesday.
Reportedly, Bernard Sainz is still active in the world of cycling. The entry fee is 5 000 euros and each consultation costs between 100 and 250 euros. In July 2015, he was added to the list of persons with whom all cooperation is banned. The list also inlcuds Eufemiano Fuentes and Michele Ferrari. The UCI prevents riders to use people from the list "for coaching tips, strategy, technique, diet or medical assistance."
Le Monde explains that French rider Kevin Ledanois (U23 World champion in 2015) works with Bernard Sainz, just as Jérôme Coppel and Sylvain Chavanel did in the past. The latter said: "It does not interest me to ride like that."
