While most eyes are looking in the direction of the Tour de France, CULT Energy Pro Cycling took on the Tour of Austria with a 5.4 kilometer team time trial in the streets of Vienna.
In spite of the short distance, there was a relatively big gap between the competing teams. Best of all were the Katusha riders who formed the last line-up on the course but they were first across the finish line completing the course in 5.45 minutes.
The eight CULT Energy riders completed the flat course in 6.06 minutes, which put the riders in 17th position:
DS André Steensen comments:
"To be honest, we haven't spent enough time together rehearsing this time trial in order to compete with the best teams here. We're aiming for stage results and we wouldn't risk anything today to finish in the top-15. Now, we're looking forward to taking on the challenges waiting for us and I think we have the riders to do well in all terrains," concludes Steensen.
