The Race of the two seas finished today with its traditional individual time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto. On San Benedetto’s promenade the fastest rider was Swiss champion Fabian Cancellara (Trek) who beat italian champion Adriano Malori (Movistar) by 4 seconds and Belarusian Vasil Kiryenka (Sky) by 9 seconds. The best placed for Bardiani – CSF was Stefano Pirazzi who was 82nd.
”It has been a demanding Tirreno – Adriatico," Bardiani manager Roberto Reverberi said. "We lost Colbrelli, after two days then Bongiorno before the mountain stage and finally Ruffoni. Pirazzi also came to the start in a bad condition due to the crash at Strade Bianche. But between these problems, we did some solid performances. I’m thinking of Ruffoni’s 8th in the Cascina stage and then Battaglin in Arezzo. I can’t forget the attempts of Zardini and Boem. Like always Tirreno was a high test for our riders. An important experience for the whole team in its growth. I’m sure that this hard week will yield benefits in the next months”.
