It was a tough day for the Bardiani at the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey. In the stage which presented the key mountaintop finish of Selcuk, Enrico Barbin was dropped by the best on the final climb, losing two positions in the general classification, where he’s sitting in 8th place.
The victory was taken by Spaniard Pello Bilbao (Caja Rural), who beat the young Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana). Battaglin and Battaglin finished the stage in 21th and 22th, respectively.
”We believed in a better result from our two leaders Barbin and Battaglin. In the finale the squad was all in front to lead them into the best positions, doing a superb work. Despite the seconds lost, Barbin has kept a spot inside the overall top 10. A position that now we have to procect until the final day in Istanbul," sports director Mirko Rossato said.
