36-year-old Belgian Stijn Devolder of Trek Segafredo reported missing this morning by sports director Dirk Demol for the team’s recon ride, reports Belga.
Only five riders looked at today’s race route with Demol: Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns, Boy Van Poppel, Giacomo Nizzolo and Marco Coledan.
"I received this morning a call from Stijn that he was sick and was felled by stomach flu. The chance that he still will appear at the start of the Omloop is very small. Maybe he can start in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, but we need to look again. Now we appoint a replacement as I do not want to wait until Friday before I release the final selection."
Very recently, Trek-Segafredo confirmed that Stijn Devolder does not start in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. Niccolo Bonifazio been called up as a replacement for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
