Two days before the end of the Giro, Kenny Dehaes (Lotto-Belisol) pack his bags. In the time trial, the Lotto-Belisol sprinter came out of time by a fraction in the final kilometers.
Five kilometers from the finish fate hit for the first time. Dehaes chain broke, but with the help of some onlookers he could continue again.
In the final kilometer, his chain broke again. A supervisor of Lotto-Belisol pushed the unfortunate Dehaes up the slope but it was in vain. The sprinter was last at 21'20 off Quintana, the winner. And that was outside the time limit.
"Thanks Giro", responded Dehaes on Twitter. "On the Gavia and Stelvio you have treated me like an animal and after two chain breaks I have to go home now! Grande Giro di merda."
