This afternoon the one hundred edition of the Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen/Championship of Flanders took place in Koolskamp. Jens Debusschere was the fastest of a group of eight, with teammate Boris Vallée, but he was relegated afterwards. The victory went to Michal Golas.
“During the sprint Jens slightly diverged from his line. It was really minimal, but the jury had made its mind up," sports director Kurt van de Wouver said after the race.
"But actually, there was no place for him to pass. The gap was too small. By his action we both lose this victory," Debusschere told Sporza.
Later he expressed his anger on Twitter:
"Thx @GroenewegenD to f*ck up for both of us. I would feel sorry if I did something wrong but this is not the case. Anyway hope you are OK," he tweeted.
