In the third stage of the Giro del Trentino, the Nippo-Vini Fantini leader Damiano Cunego finished with overall leader Richie Porte 5 seconds behind the winner of the stage Pozzovivo. The fifth position also sees him move into 5th in the overall standings.
Sports director Stefano Giuliani is happy but with a little bit of regrets: “Damiano was feeling very good today. He was a little too generous but when you are feeling good, it is difficult to calculate and wait for other riders to react. Tomorrow all these climbs will be in the legs of the riders but we will try to improve Damiano's final result until the last km."
