Nikias Arndt has finished fastest for Team Giant-Alpecin on the Stage 4 Eneco Tour individual time trial in 21st place as Tobias Ludvigsson’s chances went out the window with a crash in the final few hundred metres.
Ludvigsson looked set for a top ten finish but came unstuck on the tight penultimate corner as the route crossed from tarmac onto small cobbles. Ludvigsson hit the ground and that was his chances of any sort of result over, losing a chunk of time to his rivals. Thankfully he came out of the crash OK and looks set to start tomorrow.
“Tobias crashed with around 150 metres to go and it was a shame for him as he had ridden a strong race up until that point,” explained coach Mattias Reck. “He was on his way to a top ten but it was over after that.”
“We saw strong rides from Nikias, Chad [Haga], Georg [Preidler] and Simon [Geschke] though which was good to see, and we are now looking forward to some tough stages ahead.”
