The third race in the Superprestige will take place on Sunday in Ruddervoorde. According to course-manager Geert Pfyfferoen, cyclocross fans can expect a spectacular race.
The cross in Ruddervoorde was traditionally the first race of the Superprestige. But with the new calender, it will now be the third. But not only the place on the calender has changed.
“It will be a completely different race”, says Pfyfferoen. “We have made several changes on the course. The riders will ride the big hill six times from the other side than in previous years.”
Pfyfferoen especially expects an exciting finish because of the changes in the course.
“The final will be dramatic. We have halved the road before the finish line. Instead of 500 meters before the finish, the riders will now have to ride through the sand at 250 meters before the finish line. After the sand-stroke, the riders will also have to cross two bridges. This should make for a thrilling end of the race.”
While there have been several changes, the race will keep the many turns it is known for. Klaas Vantornout won the last edition of the cross in Ruddervoorde.
