“Of course my morale is good after the Tour of Denmark. My form is also good. I did an altitude training camp and I feel I am improving every day. In the Eneco Tour I hope to get some chances to show myself."

Marco Marcato finished the Tour of Denmark as third in the overall classification. In the last stage in the streets of Copenhagen the Italian finished tenth. He thanked his teammates Boris Dron, James Vanlandschoot, Enrico Gasparotto, Simone Antonini, Tom Devriendt and interns Kevin Callebaut and Robin Stenuit for their help.

“In the final stage the team has done great work for me again. It was another fast stage and I kept to the front of the bunch to not lose any time. I tried to do the sprint as well but I was a bit too far at the final turn."

Marcato laid the foundations for his good overall result in the first stage. He came in fifth and took 39 seconds on the bunch. In the third stage Marcato was part of the first group again winning another 41 seconds on most of his rivals. The time trial would become decisive as it his achilles' heel, according to Marcato himself.

“Finally I can say it was not a bad time trial but it was not super either. It was a flat course and therefore perfectly suited for the real specialists. You had to push big gears and I don't have that power as a rider," he explained after the race.

It would be the only stage in the Tour of Denmark where the 31-year old would finish outside the top ten.

Intern Robin Stenuit finished the five-day stage race just like all other seven riders of Wanty-Groupe Gobert. It was his first stage race in the blue jersey.

“It was a nice experience where I learned to work for a team leader. It is great to work for a fantastic rider like Marcato. I felt right at home in the team and that was good. I hope to be able to help the team in the same way in the near future," he said.

Stenuit wil ride a criterium in Heusden, Belgium on Tuesday just like all other Wanty-Groupe Gobert Belgian and Dutch riders. Marcato travels to the Netherlands where he will take part in the Eneco Tour from Monday.

“Of course my morale is good after the Tour of Denmark. My form is also good. I did an altitude training camp and I feel I am improving every day. In the Eneco Tour I hope to get some chances to show myself."
