As the season comes to its conclusion, the one-day races are again in the spotlight, and Italy’s well-known for its Autumn calendar always rich in such events. These races are an important part of Team Colombia-Coldeportes’ schedule for the final weeks of the year, as shown also in the previous seasons, when the squad was always among the protagonists. After racing Coppa Agostoni and Coppa Bernocchi – the first two races of the Trittico Lombardo – the Escarabajos are now ready to ride in the Memorial Marco Pantani and Gran Premio Industria e Commercio di Prato.
Usually ending up in a sprint, Memorial Marco Pantani (September 19th) will see the team rally around Edwin Avilaand Sebastian Molano – two of the four Colombia-Coldeportes riders selected for the World Championships in Richmond – who have a fair chance of scoring a good result. One day later, the squad will take part in the Gran Premio Industria e Commercio di Prato, a race in which Miguel Angel Rubiano came second, two years ago. Rubiano will line-up also now for the Italian one-day race, together with Camilo Castiblanco, Cayetano Sarmiento, Rodolfo Torres, Fabio Duarte, Brayan Ramirez, Daniel Martinez and Carlos Mario Ramirez.
