One of the surprising absentees on the list of applications for ProContinental licenses was Team Colombia. The largely black formation is hopeful to be riding at the same level next year. However, they still still need to find a sponsor.
This year, the team rode the Vuelta a Espana for the first time after two successive participations in the Giro d'Italia. To do it again next year, Colombia needs a Pro Continental license. Director Andrés Botero from national sports institute (and sponsor) Coldeportes told radio Antena 2, that the budget has been reduced and that a co-sponsor is required.
Colombia have until October 20 to submit the required papers to the UCI.
