NIPPO Vini Fantini honoured their wild card invitation in the second stage of the Giro d'Italia. Daniele Colli finished 9th in a stage that was marked by a long escape of five riders, among them neo pro Giacomo Berlato.
“It was a great performance of the team, the only regrets for me it is the crash 10 km from the finish that broke the group," Colli said. "I was in the second part and we spent lots of energy to reach the first part of the group. I want to thank RCS Sport for this invitation. It is great to be in the Giro d’Italia we will do our best, like today, to honor the invitation, maybe also with more luck."
Sports director Stefano Giuliani added: “ We did a good job. Giacomo Berlato, is very young and in his first great Giro but he already demonstrates who he is. A little bit of regrets at the GPM where Berlato tried to win but had to settle for third."
