After his surprise win in the first sprint stage of this year's Tirreno-Adriatico, Matteo Pelucchi (IAM) had hoped to take another one but the climbing was a bit too tough for him in today's stage. When Cannondale upped the pace in the finale, he fell off the pace and not even the combined efforts of three teammates could get him back to the front.
