Even if Christopher Froome does not yet win the Tour de France, general manager Dave Brailsford told Velonews that the British rider may ride the Vuelta a España in August. The final decision will be made only after the Tour is over.
"We won’t make a decision until we see how he comes out of the Tour, but it’s definitely a possibility", Brailsford told VeloNews on Tuesday. Froome participated twice in the Vuelta a España. In 2011, he finished behind Juan José Cobo Acebo and last year he was beaten by Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo).
“Alberto has done a commendable job trying to win both, but you could see he was tired coming out of the Giro,” Brailsford added. “It’s more conceivable that Chris could do the Giro-Vuelta, or Tour-Vuelta. The main focus will remain on the Tour.”
