Philippe Chevallier has been recruited by AG2R LA MONDIALE as its new General Manager. Current manager Vincent Lavenu will become the new CEO.
A professional rider from 1982 to 1991, Philippe Chevallier has had many senior positions in cycling management. First of all he was employed by Amaury Sport Organisation from 1995 to 2000 and then he managed the UCI Sport and Technical Department from 2000 to 2015.
"Philippe Chevallier's arrival fits well with our desire to structure and professionalize our team and staff," Lavenu said. "I know both the man and the professional and as riders in the 80s we both thought about building a pro cycling team. He knows by heart all aspects of professional cycling. His commitment, his sense of duties and his exceptional abilities will allow us to continue our ramp-up period in order to maintain AG2R LA MONDIALE among the best cycling teams. Moreover, with him at our side we could focus on some management aspects which are substantial for our team development."
"I just spent 15 amazing years at the UCI but I wanted to change my career orientation," Chevallier said. "My wish was to work for one of the best professional cycling team. That is why Vincent Lavenu's proposal attracted me. It is a well-structured pro cycling team with an impressive team spirit. It just fits perfectly with my professional cycling vision. Therefore I am glad to join this group and to be part of its development."
