Last week, Sylvain Chavanel won the individual pursuit title at the French Championships in Bordeaux-Lac, France. The six-time French national time trial champion, who will ride with Direct Energy in 2016, deliverd a impressive performance and he would like to be present on the track at the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
"We talk a lot about this big event. Some wonder if I have the technical skills to do the team pursuit", he explained according to French medias and Cyclism'Actu. "I think I'm able to adapt quite easily as I have done in the individual pursuit (during the French national championships). But there is already a good French pursuit team. This requires more than two weeks of work. For me anyway, I am open to any proposal. So yes, the 2016 Rio Olympics could be a target because I'd like to relive the Olympic adventure after having participated twice in the Olympics road races."
The UCI Hour Record is one of his main goal for the end of his career, but Chavanel is not ready to attempt this performance in the following weeks.
