Omega Pharma-Quick Step have confirmed that Mark Cavendish will no start today's second stage of the Tour de France. The Brit will speak to the press later this morning to give an update on his condition.
Yesterday Omega Pharma-Quick Step reported that Mark Cavendish was a possible non-starter in today's second stage of the Tour de France after the Brit went down hard in the finale of yesterday's opening stage. Now his team have confirmed that the Brit won't take the start.
Cavendish underwent further examination on his right shoulder after the crash. The imaging underlined ligament ruptures with an AC-joint dislocation, which causes him a lot of pain.
Cavendish will speak to the press before the start of the stage.
