Jonathan Castroviejo (Movistar Team) has been hit by a car while training yesterday morning and ended up in hospital, but fortunately he did not suffer major injuries and he is now recovering at home, as confirmed by Catsroviejo himself to BiciCiclismo.
"I'm fine. Now I must rest for a few days. I could have done nothing to avoid it," he told the Spanish website. He was accompanied by several riders at the time of the accident.
According to El Correo, the Basque cyclist was hit in Erletxes (Bizkaia) and was taken to hospital by ambulance with "a strong blow to the back."
The crash was a scare. Luckily he is is now at home with his family and will spend New Year with them before resuming his training after a few days of rest.
In 2015 Castroviejo was national time trial champion, won bronze in the team time trial at the Worlds with Movistar and was just two seconds from winning the bronze medal in the individual time trial.
