Cycling Canada has announced final selection for upcoming World Championships held in Ponferrada, opting to choose proven riders instead of filling all spots with athletes who failed to perform in line with expectations in recent months.
Cycling Canada stated, “[We] only nominate athletes to the world championship team who have shown they can contribute to Canada’s performance objectives.”
Svein Tuft (Orica GreenEDGE) will represent Canada in the individual time trial, while Christian Meier (Orica-GreenEDGE), Michael Woods (5-hour Energy) and Ryan Anderson (Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) will team up for the road race.
