Carlos Barbero (Caja Rural) finished third in the Klasika Amorebieta. The Burgos rider achieved a new top 10 for the team in a race that was very fast. A big break with Barbero and Fabricio Ferrari and got a solid advantage before it started to come down. José Herrada (Movistar), who rode for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA for two years, took a solo victory.
Carlos Barbero commented after the race: "I started with the goal of finishing with the best to get morale after a month and half with lots of injuries. My teammates had to join the break but I ended up there. That's cycling. One day you want to join the break and you fail. This time I ended up there almost accidentally. We set a strong pace and you had to gauge your effort. We finished a positive week with a good performance, aggresive and on the podium. Now it is the Vuelta a Castilla y León. I'll have my chance on the first day and try to respond in the best way."
