Caja Rural - Seguros RGA has announced that Dylan Page will join the Spanish team for the 2017 season, while David Arroyo has extended his contract.
Page, who turned 23 earlier this month, has done well this year, riding for Team Roth, with several good performances in the bunch sprints. Most notable was his third place in Trofeo Playa de Palma where only the two super sprinters Andre Greipel (Lotto Soudal) and Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) finished ahead of the fast Swiss. Page has signed a one-year contract with the team.
Dylan Page said:
“This is a great opportunity for me to take a step forward in my career and try something new. Caja Rural - Seguros RGA is the second biggest Spanish team. They have very strong riders and an important race program. This season was my first one at the pro-level and I think it has been a really good year for me. I got some good results and I gained a lot of experience for the future. Now, I want to help my new team and bring what I’ve got to the table. I want to be stronger than I was this year and show my speed in the sprints”.
For Arroyo, 2017 will mark his sixth consecutive season with Caja Rural - Seguros RGA as he has extended his contract with the team for one more year. This season, the 36-years-old Spanish climber proved that he’s still able to fight for glory and show off the team colors at the very front. He finished second overall in Tour of Turkey and fourth in Vuelta a Castilla y León. Unfortunately, Arroyo suffered from health problems in Vuelta a España, which prevented him from reaching peak condition. As a key part of the team, Arroyo will continue to guide the young riders and share his wisdom after 16 years in the professional peloton.
David Arroyo said:
“I’m very happy to continue with Caja Rural - Seguros RGA. This season has been bittersweet for me but the years don’t go to waste and I’m glad I can share my experience with the youngsters on the team. They are all very motivated and strive to be great riders. For me, it’s very rewarding to help and teach these young guys. However, next year, I also want to do well in races on a personal level, which is important in order to gain confidence and moral to keep doing what you like”.
