Caja Rural-Seguros RGA has finalized a 20-rider roster for 2016 - at least for now - after they have renewed the contracts of Javier Aramendía, Sergio Pardilla and Antonio Molina. The Spanish team is waiting for a possible invitation to the Giro d'Italia to expand their team.

Aramendía and Pardilla have only raced 22 days this season. The former did not debut until June because he underwent surgery in in a leg that had hampered him since last year. However, he finished the season in the saddle. The latteris recovering from serious injuries he suffered as a result of his crash in the Tour of the Basque Country in April. The two riders are highly valued by the management at Caja Rural-Seguros RGA and they have demonstrated so with the renewals. Youngster Molina (1991) also stays in the team after a solid second half of the year.

With these three renewals, Caja Rural finalizes a roster of 20 cyclists, according to a report by Spanish website Biciciclismo. The new signings are Alberto Gallego (People's Radio), Diego Rubio (Efapel), Domingo Gonçalves (Efapel) and Jonathan Lastra and Jaime Rosón (Caja Rural amateur team). 15 will stay in the team: Pello Bilbao, Carlos Barbero, Hugh Carthy, Hector Saez and Miguel Angel Benito who all had existing contracts, David Arroyo, Fabrizio Ferrari, Lluis Mas, Jose Goncalves, Eduard Prades, Ángel Madrazo, Ricardo Vilela, Aramendía, Pardilla and Molina who have extended the existing agreements. The idea is clearly continuity of a team that set a winning record of 17 and got over a hundred places on the podium in 2015.

Omar Fraile (Dimension Data), Fernando Grijalba, Francesco Lasca, Heiner Parra and Amets Txurruka (Orica-GreenEdge) will leave the team.

However, in case of an invitation to the Giro d'Italia, the team will add another two or three riders that will help them do the Giro-Vuelta double for the first time and still shine in the big Spanish races. The Giro is more realistic than ever after good green actions in Italy, with victories in the Giro dell'Appennino with Fraile and in the Coppa Sabatini with Prades.

Igor Anton and Rinaldo Nocentini have both been linked to the team as possible reinforcements in that case.
