Caja Rural - Seguros RGA had announced that Sergio Pardilla and Lluis Mashave prolonged their contracts with the team. Pardilla has signed a two-year extension while Mas has renewed for one more year.

The two riders are both an essential part of the Caja Rural - Seguros RGA team with their animating way of riding and impressive results.

Last year, Pardilla suffered a career-threatening crash in Vuelta al Pais Vasco but with a determined mind and hard work, the 32-year-old climber fought his way back to the peloton. In Vuelta a Burgos this year, Pardilla crowned his comeback by winning the queen stage of the race in front of Alberto Contador and finishing on the overall podium. The strong Spaniard is currently taking part in Vuelta a España where he sits in 13thplace overall after several striking performances in the mountains.

Mas, too, was originally part of the Caja Rural - Seguros RGA team in Vuelta a España but unfortunately, he suffered a bad crash early in the race, which caused him to withdraw. Mas dislocated his hip and suffered a small fracture on the head of the femur. He’s now in the middle of his recovering process, hoping to be able to stand on his leg again within a few weeks. The 27-year-old Spanish rider is amongst the most aggressive riders in the peloton, always looking to join the breakaways and fight for glory.

Sergio Pardilla said: “Caja Rural - Seguros RGA is like a family to me. The team has been very good to me the last two years. They have always believed in me and supported me. I’m super happy to stay on with the team. Last year was a difficult year for me but the team gave me the peace I needed. Thanks to the confidence they showed me, I managed to come back and obtain great results. Now, I aim to continue on the same path and keep getting good results”.

Lluis Mas said: “I’m very happy to have renewed with the team because I feel good and very appreciated here. I’m thrilled to be part of a team that keeps on growing every year. My recovery is going well. Right now, I’m doing strength exercises and it’s progressing rapidly. I can move my leg more and more every day and if it continues like this, the doctors tell me that I will be able to stand on the leg within one to two weeks and then start on the walking exercises. I want to thank the team for the confidence and support they show me. I hope to pay them back with great results next season”.
