Caja Rural-Seguros RGA delivered a solid performance in the first stage of the Volta a Portugal. Hector Saez was in the break of the day, which alongside Bruno Silva and Alberto Gallego. Eduard Prades finished 5th place in the final sprint and his teammate José Gonçalves was 7th and is 4th overall.
"It was clear I had to join the break to give presence to the team and go for the best young rider's jersey," Saez said. "I managed to be there and I felt good during the whole stage. The experience of the Volta is amazing. I hope to keep learning from my teammates to continue my education. As far as I can maintain my freshness, I will be giving presence to the team and working for my teammates."
