The World Championships road race in Florence turned into a nightmare for Martin Elmiger.
After suffering a heavy fall on the wet Italian circuit, the 35-year-old Swiss professional from the city of Zug went to the University Hospitals of Geneva to undergo extensive testing, his IAM team announced earlier today.
In addition to multiple wounds all over his body, the IAM Cycling rider also suffered a non-displaced fracture of his right clavicle. The injury will not require surgery but the team announcement did not mention anything about the amount of time Elmiger will need to recover.
