Bretagne-Séché Environnement has earned a wildcard for the Tour de France - an invitation that rewards patience, work, results and aggressive approach. Yesterday the French team was presented to the media and outlined its goals.
Romain Danze, the captain of the Stade Rennais football team, was clear when asked about one of his ambitions for the upcoming summer. "I hope I have the opportunity to follow a stage of the Tour de France this year," the defender explained while he exchanged his team kit with Armindo Fonseca who riders for the Bretagne-Seche Environnement team. "It is a sport that I am particularly fond of and since the Tour will visit Bretagne this year, I want to enjoy the moment. "
There is no doubt that Danzé will be on the roads of the Tour. Yesterday Bretagne- Séché Environnement presented its new colors and new signings that include Pierrick Fedrigo from the FDJ team, Yauheni Hutarovich from AG2R La Mondiale, and Jonathan Hivert from Belkin. The team has been reinforced to definitevely earn the recognition from the international cycling world.
Last year the team was invited to the Tour for the first time and they reached Paris with all 9 riders. This year the Breton team has already earned another invitation for the French race. "It is a sign of confidence that we went straight to the heart," said manager Emanuel Hubert. "2014 was a transition year for us and it marked a milestone because it allowed us to earn our first invitation for the Tour. So 2015 will be one of revelation."
In the spirit of the Tour organizers, the team did what was expected to earn their second participation. "I think that ASO were attracted by the fact that we did 1600km in breakaways, our nine riders reached the finish, we were able to be involved with our means. The reward is beautiful. We now have to step up. I hope we still have beautiful things to achieve. We want to do well and we want to win.
Gradually, Bretagne also wants to grow. "It is clear that our participation in the Tour was a boost for everyone," said the manager. "We have loyal partners and I think we should give them what they want. I hope that our adventure in cycling will last for a while. There is no lack of ambition and we have a real strategy for the future. It took some time to gain our place in the Tour and the big races but I think in hindsight, we were not mature enough. Today, I tell myself it was worth the wait."
