Nacer Bouhanni could not finish the French road race championships on Sunday because of a wounded hand. The Cofidis rider was invoved in an altercation at the hotel the night before the race. He has four stitches in his hand.
"The night before the race, Nacer Bouhanni and his brother [Rayane] had suffered incessant noise at night from individuals present in the adjoining hotel room. Nacer asked them to stop the nuisance and was then assaulted by these alcoholic people. He was wounded in his hand and was taken to the [hospital] emergency room for four stitches. No fractures were reported", the team press release states.
According to French media L'Equipe, the altercation started at 4 a.m. Bouhanni hit one of the three guests and broke a tooth. Even though the sprinter has a hand injury, Cofidis has confirmed that he will start the Tour de France next weekend.
