Ian Boswell performed well in the Giro d’Italia but it is very much a case of no rest for the weary. The American on Team Sky got a weeks rest or so before he had to fly to Switzerland to support Sky’s Geraint Thomas the nation’s national tour.
“To be honest, the Giro was a big and hard race, but I didn’t finish feeling completely nailed,” Boswell told VeloNews ahead of the nine-day stage race. “It was different than the Vuelta for me because it was at the beginning of the season and mentally, I wasn’t as tired afterwards. It’s nice to do Suisse because I’m sure after this I’ll want a break and I’ll feel like I’ve earned it. Right now, I don’t feel like I’m ready to take a break.”
Speaking about his role in Suisse, Boswell said he will protect Thomas as best as he can, and try and get as high up the climbs with the Welshman as he can go.
