At the end of the three-day stage race in Northern France, Phil Bauhaus sprinted to 14th place today. After yesterday's excellent fourth place, Bora-Argon 18 has all thrown into the mix to get on the podium. But in a hectic sprint finish Bauhaus was blocked so he could not sprint at full speed. The stage and overall victory went to Kris Boeckmans (Lotto-Soudal), who prevailed ahead of yesterday's winner Andrea Guardini (Astana).
"After Phil already achieved some very good top 5 positions this season, we went with full risk today. We wanted to try everything to go for a victory. And once again the team worked great. For Phil, the final circuit was very demanding with the short climb. But the team supported him very well and brought him back. The sprint preparation didn't work out very well today. He focused on the wrong wheel and then he was blocked. In such a sprint, one always need a bit of luck and we did not have it today. But to me it was important that we did not go out to a secure a top 5 result, but took a risk", said Sport Director Christian Pömer.
