Dylan Teuns proved that he deserves his spot on the BMC roster for the 2015 season when the talented Belgian finished fourth in the Tour of Britain queen stage. He even managed to drop 2012 Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins on the final climb.

BMC Racing Team's Dylan Teuns climbed his way to a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the Friends Life Tour of Britain to move into fourth overall. Teuns scored his best result of the season as a stagiaire for the BMC Racing Team from the BMC Development Team by finishing within 11 seconds of stage winner Edoardo Zardini (Bardiani-CSF) on the climb to The Tumble. Michal Kwiatkowski (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) was runner-up, nine seconds later, while Nicolas Roche (Tinkoff-Saxo) finished third and in the same time as Teuns.

"The whole day, I was feeling good – better than the past two days," Teuns said. "I was hoping for a good result and was thinking about top 10. But this is a fantastic result."

Past Danish national road champion Sebastian Lander helped set the BMC Racing Team up for the final climb by being part of a six-man breakaway. The last of the escapees was caught as the six-kilometer ascent to the finish began.

While Zardini was soloing to the stage win, Teuns shook free from a select group that included 2012 Tour de France winner and defending Tour of Britain champion Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky). BMC Racing Team Sport Director Max Sciandri said Teuns is in a good position with six stages to go, only 21 seconds off the lead.

"He will be our protected guy and this will allow Steve Cummings and Peter Velits to be on the lookout for breaks and go for stage wins," Sciandri said.

Teuns said he will take things day-by-day as well.

"If I can finish this race with a top 10 placing, I will be really happy," he said.
