A few weeks after signing Stefan Küng, BMC have continued their recruitment of young talents from their development team. Today they have announced that Dylan Theuns will turn professional with them in 2015.

Dylan Teuns of the BMC Development Team has signed a multi-year contract with the BMC Racing Team, President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz announced Tuesday.

In April, Teuns won a stage of the Tour de Bretagne on the way to a runner-up finish overall. He was second in the Under 23 edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège in April and second in the elite version of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in July. Last year, the 22-year-old Belgian was a stage winner at Triptyque Ardennaise and finished third in the Under 23 edition of Ronde de l'Isard d'Ariège.

"This is another confirmation of the success and quality of the athletes who are members of the BMC Development Team," Ochowicz said. "Dylan has a variety of skills and seems well-suited to the pro ranks, especially for the Ardennes-style races. He will continue to develop his stage racing skills and find other opportunities with us to continue his development."

Teuns said he aims to be a part of the BMC Racing Team's classics team and also looks forward to competing in one-week stage races.

"I have lived my whole life to become a professional and it is fantastic now," he said. "It is really a dream come true."

Racing with the BMC Development Team this season has been a good learning experience, he said, particularly under the tutelage of General Manager Rik Verbrugghe.

"I learned a lot from Rik – especially when it came to race tactics," Teuns said. "Being on the BMC Development Team was a good boost to my career."

Teuns will join the BMC Racing Team as a stagiaire in August, Ochowicz said, before officially becoming a member of the professional team in January. Specific terms of his contract are not being revealed, per BMC Racing Team policy.
