After the announcement that the Fernando Alonso project has been put on hold, the Formula One driver revealed that he still plans to have a team in 2016. Now Paolo Bettini reveals that he will meet with the motorsport star to discuss the future of the project in which he has played a key role.
The failure of Fernando Alonso's project for 2015 has made Paolo Bettini's future uncertain. The former coach of the Italian nation team explains in an interview with Tuttosport that he will meet Alonso at the end of the Formula 1 championships on Sunday in Abu Dhabi to find out what to do.
"I always stay in touch with Fernando Alonso and in the next few weeks we will meet to decide what to do. He is still very motivated. We need to find oit if the project is viable from the start and whether we should already start to work for 2015 putting already working for 2016 or whether it is better to go in another direction."
Bettini also commented on his decision to leave his position as national coach to work with Alonso.
"I'm sorry. It was a difficult choice to give up my position but the blue jersey is in excellent hans under Cassani's leadership. And the past few months have been invaluable because by working with Alonso and his entourage I have got to know a new culture which I would never have met in the cycling world."
