After missing Paris-Roubaix due to a bad crash at the Tour of Flanders, Daniele Bennati has set his sights on the next targets. He now focuses on the Tour de France where he hopes to play a key support role for Alberto Contador.
Tinkoff-Saxo’s Daniele Bennati had a very unfortunate crash during last Sunday’s Ronde van Vlaanderen with teammate, Matti Breschel and the powerful Italian broke his radius and was forced to watch yesterday’s Paris-Roubaix on TV. He was otherwise expected to have played a main role in the Hell of the North.
“Our medical staff on the team and Bjarne adviced me to rest until Thursday and I tried to train hoping to participate in Roubaix but I still need to rest to allow the fracture of the bone to heal properly. I was very sorry not to be able to present Tinkoff-Saxo at Paris-Roubaix yesterday. This year I was extremely motivated and I think I would have done a good race,” says Bennati and continues:
“From now on I’ll increase the training intensity again so I can be ready for the Tour of Norway, Tour de Suisse and ultimately the Tour de France."
