It has been confirmed that the 24-year old Colombian Edward Beltran will reinforce the Tinkoff-Saxo roster, as he signed a two-year contract with the Danish World Tour squad following four consecutive seasons in the EMP-UNE Continental team.

"It's my biggest achievement so far, fulfilling a dream for which I've been working for many years, the culmination of many efforts, sacrifices and self belief," excited Beltran told Revista Mundo Ciclístico.

“We talked with the directors of Tinkoff-Saxo, knocked to several different doors and they responded to our calling. They required some tests and I passed with a good results, so I am a part of this great team,” young Colombian added.

Beltran shown early signs of his talent when he finished the Giro Ciclistico d’Italia runner up to his already renowned fellow countryman Carlos Betancur in 2010. In the Continental EMP-UNE outfit he participated in the events of the American UCI calendar with not spectacular, yet solid performances including finishing 3rd in the Tour de Rio (2011) and Vuelta Independencia Nacional (2012), as well as top 20 results in the events like US Pro Challenge, Vuelta a Guatemala and Vuelta Mondo Maya.

As the 24-year old Colombian has fulfilled his first dream and joined a World Tour team, he was quick to set himself new goals to pursuit, with participation in the Giro d’Italia being the biggest one.

“To ride the Giro d’Italia,” Beltran confirmed asked about his biggest goal as a professional rider.

Beltran’s racing calendar is yet to be announced, but regardless of the races he would participate in the young Colombian is eager to use the opportunity to ride alongside highly experienced and renowned cyclists in the likes of Alberto Contador to gain essential experience and quickly develop as a professional rider.

“[Contador] is a great rider I really admire and the idea is to exploit the closeness to learn as much as possible and develop as professional.”
