Belkin will line up a team that is designed specifically to chase sprint success in the Tour of Turkey which starts on Sunday. Theo Bos hopes to add to the two wins he took in 2012 and will be supported by a fabulous lead-out train that includes riders like Graeme Brown, Barry Markus, Robert Wagner, and Jetse Bol.
“Theo will be our man in Turkey,” Sports Director Michiel Elijzen said clearly. In the 50th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, April 27 to May 4, the Belkin Pro Cycling TEAM will do everything possible to help Theo Bos bag victories. The Dutchman knows how to win in Turkey. In 2012, he won the opening and final stage.
“I've already taken a closer look at the route, four or five stages should end in a sprint. On those days we will set up the sprint train for Theo,” said Elijzen.
“Mark Cavendish will race too, but his participation doesn’t frighten us. On good days, Theo can beat anyone. We would like to win two stages. That objective seems nice and solid to me.”
Theo Bos crashed in the Rund um Köln on Monday but it did not put his participation in the Tour of Turkey in danger.
“I’m OK despite my fall, but it’s a pity that I had to abandon. I would have liked to gain some extra fitness.”
Despite his crash, Bos gained a lot of confidence in the German one-day race, in which Barry Markus finished second.
“During the race, it quickly became apparent that last week’s training camp with the sprinters had been very helpful. As a team we rode a strong race. We worked together very well. In Turkey, we hope to build on that. I hope to win again like in 2012. The way the team is operating only builds my confidence.”
Jetse Bol, Theo Bos, Graeme Brown, Rick Flens, Nick van der Lijke, Barry Markus, Robert Wagner and Dennis van Winden.
