Since the split-up of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the Czech Republic and Slovakia have held their national championships together, with the hosting rights changing between the two countries. This year, it was the turn of Slovak town Dubnica, where the ITT championships were held today on a completely flat 41 km course.
Jan Barta (NetApp-Endura) won the event and the Czech title with a time of 50:27, equaling an average speed of 48,76 km/h. Second-fastest overall was Peter Velits (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) in 50:53, winning the Slovak title. The two were clearly a level above the rest, as combined third place Vojtech Hacecky was 1:53 behind Barta’s time.
