Where others have faltered so far in the Tour, Giant-Alpecin’s Tour debutant Warren Barguil has excelled. The 23 year old is still in the top ten of the GC and hasn’t lost too much time to any of the big favourites and is well clear of the B list riders looking for the top ten.
“I take it day by day and that’s my strength, I’m not stressed out,” Barguil told Reuters before stage five.
And he says he is enjoying riding his home Grand Tour for the first time and isn’t thinking about a particular result in Paris in just over two weeks.
He said: “I’m enjoying it, it’s cool, I’m here to discover the Tour de France and enjoy it.”
