The future of Warren Barguil could be away from the Giant-Shimano team. The French rider, who showed his disappointment at not being able to participate in the Tour de France in 2014, is out of contract at the end of the season with the team and the young Breton has been on Team Sky’s radar for several weeks.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, there would be not only Sky trying to sign the 22 year old climber, but also Astana, who may be able to give Barguil leadership at the Tour de France if Vincenzo Nibali leaves the team due to the poor relationship he now has with Astana’s directors.
Alexandre Geniez took a similar position and left Giant Shiamno in 2012 after not being allowed to ride the Tour de France due to the teams big sprinting ambitions in the race and he joined FDJ.
