Sixth in the 7th stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné between Montmélian and Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc, Romain Bardet is back on track after yesterday's crash and benefited from good teamwork to move into seventh overall. His tammate Alexis Vuillermoz finished 7th.
"It was a very competitive race. I am impressed with the overall standard of the pack. All riders are competitive. That is for the spectacle of the race," Bardet said.
"I'm not better after my crash yesterday. I was very happy with the work done by the team and especially by Alexis. He gave the maximum even if we are not going to be satisfied with a 6th place and a 7th overall. For tomorrow, I hope for an even more crazy stage than today."
"It was a great day for me after yesterday's stage where I had been trappedin a stupid way," Vuillermoz said. "I had the heart to bounce back. On the penultimate climb, I accelerated to catch the riders in front of me. I realized that Romain (Bardet) was behind. So I preferred to sit up to wait and ride for him. In the end, he lost little time. We made a good comeback. I hope to be in the Tour de France to be able to offer support to Romain."
